I spent 17 years as an independent broker before joining Exit Realty and I enjoy helping my clients understand the market, locate financing, find a property, negotiate a great deal and sit with them right through to the closing. You may ask yourself why am I so passionate about this business? Well it’s quite simple… I literally grew up in the business (as the son of a Real Estate Developer) and real estate is in my blood.
I’ve called Traverse City my home since 1991 and have expertise in Marketing, Web Sites, Land Development, Condominiums, Water Front Properties, Foreclosures, Short Sales and New Construction. I am a former General Contractor, former Michigan Real Estate Appraiser (Valuation specialist) and have a degree in Marketing and Management.
I am the current Chairman of the Traverse Area Association of Realtors (TAAR) MLS Committee which oversees the operation and implementation of the Multiple Listing Service; I am a member of the TAAR Board of Directors as well as the TAAR Professional Standards Committee.
In addition I have earned the National Association of Realtors ABR Designation. The Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR®) designation is the benchmark of excellence in buyer representation. This coveted designation is awarded to real estate practitioners by the Real Estate BUYER'S AGENT Council (REBAC) of the National Association of REALTORS® who meets the specified educational and practical experience criteria.
I recently became Short Sale and Foreclosure Resource Certified (SFR) which give me the framework for understanding how to:
- Direct distressed sellers to finance, tax, and legal professionals
- Qualify sellers for short sales
- Develop a short-sale package
- Negotiate with lenders
- Tap into buyer demand
- Safeguard your commission

- Protect buyers
I also recently awarded my Green Designation by the National Association of EALTORS®’, the only green real estate professional designation recognized by NAR. GREEN Designees promote understanding what makes a property green, helping clients evaluate the cost/benefits of green building features and practices, distinguishing between industry rating and classification systems, listing and marketing green homes and buildings, discussing the financial grants and incentives available to homeowners, and helping consumers see a property’s green potential.
Lastly, I am an e-PRO is a REALTOR® who has successfully completed the e-PRO training program for real estate professionals. Endorsed by the National Association of REALTORS®, the e-PRO course teaches professionals the nuts and bolts of working with real estate on-line: Web sites, e-mail, on-line tools, and most of all, what today's consumer really wants.
